EMAILS FOR EACH DISTRICT

Aretias is the official Graduate Chapter of Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Incorporated, serving as a lifelong home for alumnae who wish to remain actively engaged in sisterhood, service, and cultural empowerment beyond their undergraduate years.

Aretias operates as its own District within the Sorority and is led by the Aretias Executive Board, composed of dedicated alumnae leaders who facilitate communication between the regional graduate chapters and the National Governing Council.

National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC)

Prior to 1998, there was no national council that catered to multicultural Greek organizations. Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority Incorporated sister Jessica Flores understood that this lack of a national presence was a hindrance to the unity, growth & development of multicultural Greeks. To rectify the situation, Jessica worked with Denise J. Pipersburgh of Lambda Psi Delta Sorority Incorporated to establish the National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC).

The purpose of NMGC is to provide a forum that allows for the free exchange of ideas, programs, and services between its constituent fraternities and sororities; to promote the awareness of multicultural diversity within collegiate institutions, their surrounding communities, and the greater community-at-large, and to support and promote the works of its member organizations. The NMGC serves in an advisory capacity to its member organizations. Each member organization is autonomous as a Greek-letter society.

NMGC Mission:

The National Multicultural Greek Council promotes multiculturalism by advocating for justice and equity, cultivating interfraternal relationships, and empowering its member organizations.

The NMGC defines multiculturalism as not only diversity of membership, but a concrete commitment to acknowledge and celebrate all cultures equally through our programming, public service outreach efforts and community education.

National Philanthropy

As sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon, each and every one of us agrees to uphold our goals of Academic Excellence, Unity Amongst Women, and Community Service. Over the past thirty years, we have dedicated countless hours of service and generous donations to various charities and research programs. Our mission has always been to help as many organizations as possible, but we also realize the need to focus our efforts in order to make a stronger impact on the community at large.

Every five years, the organization selects a national philanthropy as beneficiary. Through this process, we are able to dedicate ourselves as a national organization to aiding a single charity organization for five years at a time, and continue to assist many more organizations in the future. Previous philanthropies include:

  • Mavin Foundation
  • Women In Need NYC
  • Ovarian Cancer National Alliance
  • Girls Inc
  • Keep A Breast Foundation
  • The Girl Effect
  • To Write Love On Her Arms

Mu Sigma Upsilon's National Philanthropy for 2021-2026 is:
